Report on the 14TH ICDMFR Florianópolis

Dear Colleagues,

The 14th International Congress of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology is round the corner. By the time you receive the present Newsletter you will be probably packing and getting ready for the trip to Florianópolis.The organization of the Congress is in its final stage. The scientific program is ready, with the Pre-Congress courses, Special Lectures, Symposiums, Conferences, Oral and Poster presentations all scheduled. We are glad to have received more than 200 abstracts, which entered the selection process.

Approximately 500 people, from more than 25 different countries have already registered for the meeting. We expect this number to increase as abstracts have been just accepted for presentation. We hope this unfortunate international conflict does not prevent people from coming to an event that promotes not only the interchange of scientific knowledge but also the sharing of personal experiences between people of different races, beliefs and costumes.

The social program has been prepared with a variety of functions:

The tour program offers many options, including tours within andutside the island: Florianópolis Basic City Tour, Florianópolis Full City Tour, Sailing Tour around the North Bay, Bangalore Camboriú – Blumenau – Brusque, Camboriú – Bombinhas – Quatro Ilhas, Thermal Waters – Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, Joinville – City of Flowers, Beto Carrero World, etc. More details can be found on our website (www.iadmfr-brasil.ufsc.br) and on the Preliminary Program and Call for Papers mailed to you previously. Reservations for the optional tours should be made directly with the official travel agency of the Congress (BBTurismo: ramses@bbtur.com.br or ana@bbturfln.com.br; Fax: +55 48 322-0460), at any time before the event or on-site in the entrance hall of the Convention Center, across the registration desk (ground floor).

The stands of the Commercial Exhibition have been sold out. State-of-the-art equipment and numerous technical innovations will be presented during the Congress.

It is Fall in Brazil right now. Days are sunny, nights are starry. I think everything is contributing for a great Congress. I could not imagine it was so hard to organize a Congress. However, the Organizing Committee is doing a good team’s work. And more than anything: you all deserve it!
