PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE GOVERNANCE OF IADMFR

At the meeting of the Board of Directors in Glasgow last August, a proposal from the Constitution and Bylaws Committee was discussed. The purpose of this proposal was to make IADMFR both more efficient and more democratic. These proposals, with any modifications that you may suggest, will need to be put to the General Assembly in 2003.

They are:

  1. To keep the present 8 administrative regions.
  2. That Regional Directors should be appointed by postal ballot of the members in that Region.
  3. That there should be twelve Regional Directors, Regions with large membership be entitled to two Regional Directors each:
  4. That Regional Directors would additionally have specific remits and responsibilities within IADMFR, eg. chairing sub-committees.
  5. That the membership of each country elects a National Representative/Councillor [better name than Regional Chapter Representative - see p29 para IX of Constitution]. The Duties of these National Representatives/Councillors include:

    a. promoting IADMFR in their Country.
    b. liasing with Secretariat.
    c. reporting IADMFR activities in their Country to the Secretariat.

This could be in writing, or at each Congress. It is suggested that each Congress has a
meeting [?working lunch] for National Representatives/Councillors and the Board of Directors to receive and discuss the reports from National Representatives/Councillors.

Please let me have your comments.
